O-rings are no stranger to everyone, and the existence of O-rings is indispensable in many devices. Do you know what requirements do you have for the environment to store O-rings?
O-rings are affected by various external environmental factors, such as distortion, oxygen, ozone, light, heat, moisture, oil, or chemical solvents. O-rings may fail due to changes in their physical and chemical properties.
1.O-ring storage temperature 5-25 ℃ is the ideal storage temperature. Contact with heat sources and sunlight should be avoided. Seals removed from low-temperature storage should be placed in an environment of 20°C before use.
2.O-ring storage humidity The relative humidity of the warehouse should be less than 70%, to avoid too wet or too dry, can not appear condensation phenomenon.
3. Light Avoid sunlight and strong artificial light sources containing ultraviolet rays. UV protection bags can provide better protection. It is recommended that the windows of the warehouse be painted with red or orange paint or film.
4. Oxygen and ozone The rubber material shall be protected from exposure to circulating air. This may be accomplished by packaging, wrapping, storing in an airtight container, or other suitable method. Ozone is harmful to most elastomers. Avoid the following equipment in the warehouse: mercury vapor lamps, high-voltage electrical equipment, motors and other equipment.
5.O-ring storage in contact with metallic or non-metallic materials Contact with magnetic materials, cast iron, copper and its alloys, or materials that can damage the rubber are not permitted. PVC material cannot be used for packing seals. Seals of different materials shall not be mixed.
6.O-ring storage clean If necessary, soapy water can be used to clean the seal. But water cannot touch the fiber reinforced seal.
